Performances from Kelsey Plum and A’ja Wilson put the Las Vegas Aces on the verge of winning the franchise’s first WNBA championship.
The Aces dominated the Connecticut Suns 85-71 in Game 2 at their home turf on Tuesday night. Plum took 20 points from a poor performance in Game 1 to thank Wilson for putting him on notice. She was 1-for-9 with six points in the Aces’ Game 1 victory.
“I told him he needed to get him together,” Wilson said when asked what he told his teammate.

Plum continued: “Aja kicked me out before the game. That’s all I needed. I was about to join the party. They drove us all week. It’s good to hit a few shots, but we had one And there is.”
Wilson, a two-time WNBA MVP, didn’t do so badly himself. He scored 26 points and 10 rebounds. Chelsea Gray added 21 points, eight assists, three rebounds and three steals.
The lead the former South Carolina standout brought to the aces was unmistakable, and her coach Becky Hyman was among those who later uncovered it.

“She understood. She understands leadership,” Hammon said. “I looked like everyone was watching from afar. She has animal skills. She’s an animal human. She’s a good one. I’ll go to war with her any day.”
Plum said there was a reason Wilson is one of the best players in the league. Wilson is the first player in WNBA history to have five straight games for 20 points and 10 rebounds in the playoffs.
“You could say it’s a run, but he’s done it all season now,” Plum said. “I felt like she’s been the most consistent player in this league, night in, night out offensively and defensively, and that’s why she’s the MVP. It’s tremendous.”
Sun tried to make a comeback in the second quarter, but the aces were swept away in the third.
Courtney Williams led the Suns with 18 points on a 9 for 17 shoots. Jonquel Jones added 16 points and 11 rebounds.
